DISCOVER THE BUILDING RACIAL BRIDGES CAMPAIGN

The “Building Racial Bridges Capital Campaign 2021-2025” spearheaded by the Rutherford B. H. Yates Museum, Inc., is a historic initiative dedicated to fostering understanding and unity across diverse racial and ethnic communities. This campaign underscores our unwavering commitment to the preservation of the rich history and cultural legacy within the iconic Freedmen’s Town National Register Historic District in Houston’s 4th Ward.

Your generous donations to the “Building Racial Bridges Capital Campaign” for Freedmen’s Town Museums in Houston will play a pivotal role in fully restoring eight house museums, thirteen archaeological sites, and two greenhouse classrooms. These meticulously preserved sites will serve as powerful educational tools, unveiling the historical contributions and impact of formerly enslaved African Americans, as well as Africans and their descendants. Engaging exhibits, special public programming, and guided tours for individuals, groups, or school field trips will continue to impart valuable lessons.

Commencing as a grassroots effort in 2021, the campaign aims to raise $7.5 million for the preservation of significant African-American history and house museums. It emphasizes community-driven events, cultural festivals, and exhibits promoting cross-cultural activities and racial harmony. As a beacon of hope, the campaign encourages racial reconciliation and community cohesion, envisioning a brighter and more inclusive future.

This initiative is a testament to the influential role history and culture play in building bridges that unite communities and foster mutual respect. Every donation is pivotal in fostering cross-cultural appreciation and harmonious coexistence, contributing to a lasting legacy of unity for generations to come.

By supporting the restoration of the Freedmen’s Town Museums in Houston of the Rutherford B.H. Yates Museum, Inc., you contribute to the creation of an African Heritage International Research, Education, and Tourist destination in Texas. Donate today to be part of this historic preservation journey and ensure a vibrant cultural legacy for the future.
